Ingredients
- 9 lasagna noodles
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cans (15 ounces each) tomato sauce
- 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
- 2 teaspoons dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 15 ounces ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Cook the Noodles: Boil the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Prepare the Meat Sauce: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, sausage, onion, and garlic over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat. Stir in tomato sauce, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 20 minutes.
- Mix the Ricotta: In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and a pinch of salt. Mix until smooth.
- Layer the Lasagna: In a baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce, followed by three noodles, a layer of ricotta mixture, and a layer of mozzarella. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with meat sauce and mozzarella on top. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over the top.
- Bake: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Serve: Let the lasagna cool for a few minutes before slicing. Enjoy with a side of garlic bread and a salad!
